'Intoduction' is basically an article that introduces new readers to some of John Mcphee's notable works and styles. It begins by giving some history of the new yorker about the year that John entered the game, and describing his first article. It was an article about basketball unlike any other, where Mcphee as a journalist got to know the person he was writing about personally, even taking him to get his eyes examined to prove a point. The article goes on the describe how John relates well with all his research topics, and how even his peers are past envying him they simply respect his unique, hilarious style of writing. The author of this article was also one of John Mcphee's students while attending Princeton University, and received a barely passing grade in the apparently tough course. His esteem for Mcphee was not lowered by this low grade because the article basically idolizes Mcphee as the best guy ever.
